Shefaro Amadeo's Tatiana
Diedre Reed, California
This is how it all began. Elia had a litter of nine puppies that were born November 4, 2001 at Shefaro. Tatiana is pictured with siblings, Casanova, Tuxedo, Rodrigo, Panda, Zoie, Smirnoff, Venado and Mikhail.
It's amazing how they change and grow in just a little over two weeks.

Hi Burt , Tracy, and Melody - I'm so excited to bring Tatiana home next Friday! As for names, I was thinking of calling her 'Teddy' for short, but would like Melody's input, as she's obviously fond of Tatiana. I've also thought about your suggestion to train her as a service/therapy dog, and think it's a good idea - she clearly loves people! See you next week - Deidre

Hi Sherry -
Just an update on Teddy (formerly Tatiana)
She's curled up in front of the fireplace as I type, like a big doughnut!
As you asked, daycare is where city dogs here in LA go when their 'parents' are at work. Teddy goes to Chateau Marmutt (chateaumarmutt.com), as did my beloved and lovely dane, Lila. In my opinion, they're the best doggie daycare in LA, I did a bunch of trial research when we first moved here. I walk her there, about five blocks away, and know everyone there, as I've been going there for almost 4 years. I also volunteer there Saturday mornings, and now bring Teddy with me, as she's MUCH more comfortable when I'm in sight, which is helping her to enjoy daycare, and become more playful with the other dogs. Yay!
Plus, it's great continuing socialization in a person-supervised atmosphere. Today, she actually chased and fake-pinned a fun, rough and tumble dog - who loved it! She's very gentle, just chasing and mouthing. Backs off whenever there's trouble, shies away from aggression, etc....
Tomorrow (Sunday) I have to go into the office for the day and am bringing Teddy with me (my advertising agency will be surprised, to say the least, but if they want me on weekends, right now, Teddy comes too!) Teddy is really not good at being left alone right now (howls when I even take out the trash!). Think she's still getting used to having a person instead of a pack.
Though I've had houseguests who are happy to stay/nap/whatever with Teddy for a couple hours, she won't relax until I'm in sight. Odd, for a pooch I've had only 2 weeks, but also very endearing! When we walk, people are astounded that I've only had her two weeks. She now stops at corners, leans into me, and is great (in fact, way curious) to walk into all the neighborhood shops. Had to bring her with to get a pedicure last weekend, as she howled for two hours when I left her in good company to get the car washed, run errands, etc......of course, once in the manicure place, she just lay down and slept for the whole half-hour!
She's a wonderful, wonderful pal. A real companion. Still getting used to being on a leash, but also finally feeling her oats at home - she now runs through the place, tail up and excited! Still sleeping on the bed, and rolling herself off, then glaring at me.
But also - and this is new - getting comfortable in daycare, starting to really like the neighborhood dogs, trusting that I'll come back when I leave. Am sure that as time goes on, she'll know that I'll come back every time I leave the house. I certainly love having her here every time I come home!
Thank you for a wonderful girl, a breed I never had even thought about (she's so fancy!) Me thinks we're both really lucky to be sharing a home.
You're welcome to put my emails on your site, I'm happy to comment on such wonderful pooches!
Best,
Deidre Reed

> I'll be taking good care of Teddy, I know you will. and will send pics to the Wards. Please also send the pictures to me at sherry@shefaro.com or pictures@shefaro.com so I can put a couple on my webpage. Teddy has a page on my webpage under Special Borzoi. Don't know whether or not you'd seen it.
> You, too, if you'd like. I would LOVE the pictures. Thank you so much.
Do you mind if I put this email on her page?
Kisses to Teddy. I am overjoyed to receive this email. Thank you.
