Dear (Grandma) Sherry,
I have been trying to write you for a month now, but I can't stop crying, especially when I see the pictures of you beautiful Borzoi who look so much like my son, Drago. I don't know if you remember us, but you shipped my only "son" to me here in California at Christmas, 1996 and it was the greatest present I ever received. He was purchased sight unseen before he was ever whelped from your Alejandro and Cereza litter. He was a great boy, good with everyone and everything. He'd go from running around the acreage to playing with my rescues, large/small, furry or feathered, cuddling up with my little daughter to going into the show ring. Everyone loved him and couldn't believe such a big, big dog and a Borzoi to boot could be so openly friendly and affectionate, even to strangers, two and four legged. He was a winner at confirmation, obedience(his favorite), coursing and was always ready to assist in public relations and pet charity events.
His tragic loss is unbearable! Intl. Ch. Shefaro Alejandro Drago Dynz, CGC was cut down in his prime by the poisoned Menu Foods fiasco. You know we always did our best to research everything and provide the very best of care, but we did not know about all the lies! So beautiful and happy one day and then within a week he died and the vets were mystified because the recall wasn't announced yet, but it turns out they knew and then he would still be alive cheering uo our every day. I'm sorry I meant this to be short as I can hardly see to type, but I know you of all people must understand us. To lose your baby, a great Shefaro baby at that and for no good reason, is horrific. The vets all said(both his vet and the emergency clinic vet) that he looked so young and healthy, except for the poisoning of course. I can fill you in with more details, should you be interested.
I know one of the many things that caused my to choose Shefaro over every other kennel/breeded I researched in the Northern Hemishere was their health and longevity so this doesn't reflect on either of us, but rather on the murdering capitalist at Menu Foods and all the stupid companies that sneakily had them manufacturing their so called premium healthy foods!!!!. Sorry, I'm so upset and my husband is furious and our daughter is very upset(she's 7) so she grew up with Drago and we just lost our Borzsha(our female Borzoi from 1994) in May so it's a compilation of misery. To lose not 1, but 2 Borzoi is so short a time. They were totally devoted to each other and passed so regally in the face of their sudden sickness. Our 14 year old Maltese is still looking for her "little brother" as everyone jokingly called him.
Besides informing you of Drago's passing I want to plead with you that at some time in the future when we and the dog world have recovered and is safe again to please, please grace us with another Shefaro Borzoi. You couldn't ask for a better home than that of one who has already loved and lost a Shefaro. No other Borzoi should ever try to fill those giant footsteps so filled with his clownish ways(I have heard from others that his father was the clown of the Borzoi world so he should be proud of his son as I was/am), big heard and endless kisses. You had over the years promised me another Shefaro if mine didn't go Champion and give kisses, well he couldn't have been more perfect!
I've gotta go to Church now, so I'll say goodbye. Thank you for the experience of a lifetime and love to all at Shefaro always.
